I love your stuff, I really do, but just like the ref I feel like this is that 1% where it is just wrong. Given the magnitude of the game or rather the magnitude of that moment and what it could mean for either team, they could not afford to get this wrong and not give themselves that 1% chance of making the wrong decision. The least they should have done is let the on-pitch ref to have a look at the VAR screen and gauge how much of contact there was. Plus, Both sets of fans majorly know that in any other game where the damn VAR may have been heavily depended on, the penalty would have been ruled out. The only problem that I may have with my own opinion (gotta put your feet in both shoes) is deciding how big a moment is to warrant the use of the VAR screen. Just my opinion.
