I understand that United's midfield personnel is seriously lacking and that Carrick has had to make do with what he got inherited. But this argument that Carrick WILL play a completely different tactic/playstyle once the summer window is come and gone is a bit of a facetious argument isn't it? How can you possibly know without being inside the United hierarchy or the coaching room? Just arguing that something will happen next season because of x,y, and z when we have seen the same argument for every other manager we've had since Mourinho doesn't say much at all.
You are trying to hammer in a narrative based on an evidence that does not exist and cannot be proven until August. It's pointless to make this argument unless you are inside the United hiring process.
And equally there is zero evidence to say that given new/different players Carrick would deploy the same tactics/playstyle.
Here's what we know:
Carrick was in charge of one team with a certain group of players, he played one way
He got a second team with a completely different group of players - he played a completely different way
Why didn't he try to play the same way with that second team? There's enough data there to suggest that if you change the players, he's probably going to change how he plays.
Lastly. When he goes in to interview for the job full time they're going to ask him how he wants to evolve the team over time, what his vision is. If he sits there and says we can get better players but i'm still going to play this very passive defensive style, he's not going to get the job.
Missing simple nuance which is strange because United's last manager Amorim was given leeway to lose games in the short term whilst rebuilding for the long term.
Perhaps, you are the one missing nuance. If Carrick feels the current approach is the best way to get results, chances are that he will fall back to this method under the slightest hint of pressure. And everything we have seen over the last decade shows those pressures are never far away.
What do hidden stats mean when your coach doesn't realise that Mainoo should be playing? What do numbers mean when the same coach plays Ugarte instead? Or when the coach tries to play Bruno in defensive midfield? These are basic things. Some of these stats may favour Amorim but its literall irrelevant, he played a 5 at the back system non of the players looked comfortable in , and they kept losing. I ccan't believe people are talking about Amorim's stats.

it makes sense
I agree long term some of the issues will be exposed
"Michael Carrick was hired to win games". I suppose this will not be a requirement when he gets the full time job?
