As much as patience is important, the relentless media and fan pressure is like no other at Manchester United. Look at what happened to Ole’s first full season. The expectation was like a rebuild for a couple years post Jose but as soon as we were not getting a good set of results by November, the pressure was on for him to grind out results regardless of how ‘Sexy’ the performance is. Even then, getting top 4 felt more like a begrudging acceptance that the season was just about okay.

I fear with Ten Hag, it will be the same. Managers just are not afforded the luxury of a simple block of 4-5 years to build. That may be intention by clubs, but bad/mediocre results and unhappy fans are a strong factor that easily makes throwing all that out the window. Fans were even fed up with Ralf by the end despite being brought in to bring a style of play for his interim. He sold out on that to feed CR7 to get the best possible results. Losing games just doesn’t feel good in general for any fan to take.

The writing is on the wall for what their collective actions have meant for the club post Sir Alex. It would be insane for anyone left to think that we should carry on like normal. I would much rather that the new regime focuses on the footballing operations at the club itself. Stuff that shouldn’t really be reported to fans over every little detail but investment to improve players and scouting in general. Yes, transfers are important to replace what we already have. Richard Arnold is right though, “When you walk into Carrington, where is that one billion spent?”

I do think that Woodward’s united would have out bid at least one or two players we have been linked to already that have gone to rival clubs so the fact that we are *Seemingly* not doing that gives me a little bit of hope.

On a personal note, going through a full premier league season just accepting that not getting top 4 and Europa league is okay will be a tough one to slog through week in week out. Comparison is the thief of joy when looking at our rivals.
